The most common reason for a slow computer is malware. This is software that infects your machine with programs that cause problems such as fake antivirus or silly emoticon add-ons.

The first thing to do is run a complete scan of your computer with a program called MalWare Bytes. Its is completely free and is powerful enough to remove most malware software.

Once downloaded install the program and run a complete scan, if it finds anything it will give you the option to remove the bad software and your machine should be much better after a reboot.
